Himalayan 450:After much anticipation, Royal Enfield has officially launched the eagerly awaited Himalayan 450 at the Motoverse event in Goa. The adventure tourer, inspired by the legendary Bruce Lee, is set to redefine the biking experience with its innovative features and revamped design.

Royal Enfield enthusiasts can book the new Himalayan at all dealerships by paying a token amount of Rs 10,000. The introductory prices range from Rs 2.69 lakh to Rs 2.84 lakh (ex-showroom) and will remain valid until December 31, 2023. 3 variants are launched – Base, Pass, and Summit.

  • Base (Kaza Brown): Rs 2.69 lakh
  • Pass (Slate Himalayan Salt, Slate Poppy Blue): Rs 2.74 lakh
  • Summit (Kamet White, Hanle Black): Rs 2.79 lakh to Rs 2.84 lakh

The base trim comes in the distinctive Kaza Brown shade, while the Pass variant offers two color options – Slate Himalayan Salt and Slate Poppy Blue. The top-tier Summit trim is available in Kamet White and Hanle Black. A variety of colors ensures riders can choose a Himalayan 450 that suits their style.

Feature-Packed Himalayan 450

The motorcycle boasts a full-LED headlight, turn indicators, and a cutting-edge fully-digital TFT instrument console. Notably, the console features built-in navigation powered by Google Maps, Bluetooth connectivity for smartphones, and music playback options. Additional features include a C-type USB charging port, ride-by-wire with two ride modes (Performance and Eco), and switchable rear ABS.

Engine and Hardware Specifications

Powering the Himalayan 450 is an all-new 452cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine – the Sherpa 450. This marks Royal Enfield’s first liquid-cooled motor, delivering 0 PS of power at 8,000 rpm and 40 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The power is efficiently transmitted to the rear wheel through a new 6-speed gearbox equipped with a slip and assist clutch.

Underneath, the Himalayan 450 features a robust steel twin-spar tubular frame with a twin-sided swingarm, supported by a Showa-sourced suspension setup and larger front and rear rotors for enhanced braking. The motorcycle rolls on 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoked wheels, which will later offer tubeless tire options.

Global Availability and Pricing

Apart from its Indian debut, the Himalayan 450 will be available in Europe and the UK from March 2024. Priced at 5,900 euros in Europe and 5,750 pounds in the UK, the motorcycle is set to make waves in the international biking community.

In a statement at the launch event, Royal Enfield’s Chief, Siddharth Lal, revealed that the inspiration behind the substantial upgrade was none other than Bruce Lee, the iconic martial arts expert featured in the Hollywood classic ‘Enter the Dragon.’

Enthusiasts can expect an exhilarating riding experience with the Himalayan 450, thanks to its dynamic features. The rally-inspired seating options and the Rally Kit, which increases seat height to 855mm, cater to diverse rider preferences. Furthermore, Royal Enfield plans to offer a comprehensive range of accessories categorized under Adventure and Rally.
